Explore Yourself With Hammer Dark Web

Exploring the Dark Web may be illegal, but playing with the Dark Web bowling ball isn’t. Today’s article is on this new famous bowling ball that everyone is talking about. Hammer knows how to improve their bowling balls from each line. With the new Hammer Dark Web bowling ball, Hammer kept their Web line alive. So what’s so special about this newly released bowling ball? Is it just as good as other bowling balls from the Web series? Spoiler alert! The Dark Web is more defined and better in terms of performance. It was released in July this year, and I am already seeing a lot of positive feedback. So before you make your final decision, take a look at its specifications and characteristics through this Hammer Dark Web bowling ball review.

Why is this bowling ball the best?

The Dark Web by Hammer is designed to provide significantly better performance with its symmetrical modified core. With this newly enhanced version, you’re going to have much stronger hooks on the lane now. If you’re looking for a performance-improving bowling ball for medium to heavy oil patterns, the Hammer Dark Web bowling ball is definitely a good choice.

Features

Coverstock

Have you ever played with a bowling ball that has a very strong and aggressive coverstock? If your answer is no, good news! I have just the bowling ball you need. The Hammer Dark Web features the same Aggression Solid reactive coverstock which you have previously seen

In Hammer Dark Web. Once you get used to this coverstock, your bowling style is going to positively change forever.

Unlike the other Dark Web balls, the Dark Web is designed to show some special motion and reaction that you didn’t think was possible from a high-performance bowling ball. It acts like any other professional bowling ball. The cover will sort of remind you of the Web Tour but the Dark Web’s one is on steroids. Yeah, the name of the coverstock is surely justified.

The Aggression solid cover is known for being cleaner through the front part of the lane. This enables the ball to move smoothly. When the fronts are smooth and clean, the rest of the ball rolls eventually get better including the ball motion at the breakpoints and the pockets. When the Dark Web rolls down the lane, it keeps its energy stored for the string backend reaction. After the breakpoint, the coverstock then helps the ball to hit the pins with lots of force.

Thanks to this coverstock, the ball is also great at reading the mid-lane and has a very controllable and unique motion down lane. It may seem like the ball is late picking up the mid-lane, but don’t worry. It knows what it is doing. You can tell by this coverstock feature alone why this Solid Reactive bowling ball by Hammer will be a nice investment for your future endeavors.

Factory Finish

Now, let’s talk about one of the most important factors about the bowling ball— its coverstock finish. Out of the box, the Aggression solid reactive cover is prepped with 500/1500 Siaair Micro Pad factory finish which gives the bowling ball the traction and hooking ability it needs

Considering the ball’s overall construction, the matte finish is going to work fabulously on medium to heavy oil patterns. So if you want your bowling ball to react the best way possible, keep the ball rolling only on medium-heavy lane patterns. What I love about Hammer Dark Web is its energy-retaining ability without sacrificing the ball’s motion. If you think your bowling oil pattern is going to be very flat, and you need a little bit more grip, sand it down even more if you want to. No worries, this won’t change your bowling ball’s performance.

Core

After Hammer’s huge success with Web and Web Pearl, the Spheroid core was up for some modification to take your bowling to the next level. So this new Dark Web features the symmetrical “Modified Spheroid” core for stronger and better hooks.

This newly developed model of the good old Spheroid core is better at tracking, hooking, and rolling with aggression. By adding the improved flip block which is placed at the top of the core, the ball ensures an insane amount of power.

As mentioned, the core has a symmetrical shape where the RG of the core is 2.514″ and a total differential of 0.042″. The modification of the Spheroid core includes the raised value of RG. However, the differential is the same as the old Spheroid core. As a result, you will experience an increased overall motion with the Hammer Dark Web bowling ball.

This particular chance in the core design and then pairing it with the Aggression coverstock made this an upper-mid performance symmetric bowling ball. This ball will indeed make all the Hammerhead bowlers happy.

Color

Hammer never fails to disappoint their fans with gorgeous-looking bowling balls. The Dark Web is no exception. As the name suggests, the ball looks dark, well yeah, because it has a dark color on the body. The surface of the ball features a combination of dark blue and black that totally justifies the name of the ball.

If you’re into bowling ball that has a gothic appearance, you will love the Dark Wed’s color combo. Besides the solid black and dark blue, the ball has a beautiful reddish-orange logo that has a web spider and the name of the ball engraved on it.  Because the logo is embedded on the surface of the Dark Web bowling ball, there’s no way it will ever wear off.

Hook Potential

The Dark Web is the missing piece in the puzzle because Hammer was lacking a bowling ball that is as good as Dark Web. This ball is not like any other bowling ball from the Web series. Hammer has modified this bowling ball as much as possible to make it hook even better on heavier oil patterns. I have heard some professionals saying that the Dark Web bowling ball is a “monster” on heavy volumes of oil.

The perfect combination of a higher RG (2.514) and the same differential (0.048) is something Hammer never put in their bowling balls. The revival of the Spheroid core and then pairing it with an aggressive core has made this piece an excellent candidate for strong as well as aggressive hooking on the lane.

If you have a medium to high rev rate, the Dark Web bowling ball is gonna read the mids early with a powerful motion. If you have sort of a low rev rate, the mid-lane read will be a bit late. Either way, your ball is gonna go off the pattern with enough power. This may sound like I’m exaggerating, but the energy the ball carries to the pin after hooking is strong enough that makes pins look like ten white toothpicks.

Once you play with the Dark Web bowling ball, you are gonna love how this ball hooks like something pushed it to move that aggressively toward the pins. This is enough to prove that it is indeed a stronger hooking high-performance bowling ball. And the consistency? Don’t worry, the ball will be consistent as long as the lane is not completely dried up.

Do you have a league or tournament coming? I promise the Dark Web is going to make a really nice piece of tournament equipment. Just unleash in on the lane and let it do its magic. Remember to try it out on multiple heavy and medium patterns and see how it reacts to these patterns. I’m sure you will see readable motion, smooth entry angles, amazing continuation, and excellent carry power. What’s more can you ask for winning your upcoming competition?

Breakpoint Shape

Now, let’s have a discussion on how the hooking motion will be at the breakpoint. Previously, I mentioned that the ball is going to have powerful hooks. But when it exits the oil pattern, what kind of shape it is going to make at the breakpoint? Well, the specification suggests that the Dark Web ball will have an Aggressive Overall Hook and I second that!

As a symmetrical bowling ball, Dark Web has enough aggressiveness that will come in handy for hooking purposes. The backend reactions are also top-notch. You will find a few similarities with other Web bowling balls. So if you want your ball to get you through anything, The Hammer Dark Web is a must-have bowling ball.

What We Like

  • Most bowlers think that bowling balls that are designed for pro-level bowlers only are the best ones on the market. The Hammer Dark Web is a high-performance bowling ball that is a blessing for bowlers who are constantly trying to improve their overall bowling skills. If you’re someone who is trying to get better at bowling, you can’t go wrong with the Dark Web.
  • Symmetrical bowling balls are known to be controllable and unpredictable. The Hammer Dark Web is the biggest proof of that. You will be able to control its motion from start to finish. You will be delivered with predictable ball motion and pin-to-ball reaction. As a cherry on top, Dark Web is very precise when it comes to hitting the pocket with tremendous force.
  • The perfect duo of solid reactive cover and improved symmetrical core has made this bowling ball so wildly popular within a very short time. They are like best friends! While the Modified Spheroid core gives your ball exception energy storing ability, the coverstock lets it react aggressively. You gotta appreciate that.

What We Don’t Like

  • This bowling ball is a big “NO-NO” if you’re more comfortable laying on the dry lanes. To enjoy this ball to the fullest, you have to face the reality of playing on the high volume of oil patterns. The same goes for bowlers who already bowl on oil patterns. If you see the lane breaking down and slowly drying, stop rolling this ball down the lane.

Hammer Dark Web Best Alternative

The Dark Web will remind you of Storm’s Web Pearl Jade/Smoke bowling ball. Both of them have the aggression reactive coverstock and so as the core type. In terms of ball motion and reaction, Hammer Dark Web sort of reacts like the Black Widow 2.0. So can you find any exact dupe for that?

I have found quite a lot of similarities between the original Web and the Dark Web. It’s mainly because of the same core. A  great optional bowling ball for the Dark Web would be the Web Tour. To me, these two seem to have almost the same hooking ability and smooth, angular breakpoint. Some reactions will remind you of Black widow 2.0 as well because of having the same coverstock. So technically, there is no exact dupe for the Dark Web bowling ball. Indeed, it’s a unique masterpiece!
