While the highest possible score is 300 in bowling, don’t expect to have that as your average bowling score. As a matter of fact, a 300 bowling average is actually quite impossible. However, a 200+ bowling score as the average is actually pretty significant. Most serious bowlers aim to have an average that is 200 or above. Bowlers, once they reach a 200+ score, get more serious and it all makes sense. So do you want to know the secret of getting your score equal to or higher than 200? Then you should consider giving this article a read.

Is 200 a good bowling score?

Before I start my narrative, you should know that 200 is a very impressive score in bowling. It’s rare for beginners to have this kind of score (in a game or as the average), but a 200+ score is very common among advanced and professional bowlers. In fact, a bowler can’t even get promoted to a higher level without having a score higher than or equal to 200.

If your bowling average is lower than 180, and you only score a 200+ score on your lucky days, you have a long way to go. Once you can get your average above 190, you are very close to having 200 as your bowling average score, which is obviously a decent one.

Those who are quite good at bowling can often get their score to 200 points without even paying too much attention. They can randomly get 200 points bowling scores during their games. If you can relate to that (because you have a 200+ bowling average score), congratulations you have started to reach the professional level of bowling. Averaging anywhere over 200 points glorifies the time, dedication, and hard work you’ve put into this sport to develop your skills. Take a closer look at the averages of professional bowlers. Those are usually in the mid-200s.

So is the 200 points score great for everyone? The answer is, no! If you’re already participating in various bowling leagues and tournaments, be super happy to see a 200+ score on the scoreboard every time you bowl. If you’re a beginner and luckily score 200 points, don’t get over-excited! You have a lot more to practice and consistency. For bowlers who are trying to get better at bowling, 200 is an impressive bowling score for them. If you already have a 185+ average, amp up your hard work, and with time, you will soon see the lights of a good score of 200.

Is Bowling a 200 hard?

I wouldn’t lie to you. Bowling a 200 is indeed pretty challenging, especially, if you’re not used to seeing scores around 200. Statistically, bowlers with below 200 average struggle a lot to get their score to 200. Even if you bowl a few 200 games, that’s not all. There’s a long way to go to keep the consistency.

If you’re new to bowling but have the potential and interest to reach a 200+ score, you should know that it will take time to get there. Even at a 190 or 195 average, you should be ready to have the patience to reach a 200 bowling average as it can be time-consuming. With proper skill development, you can become a professional bowler someday and that day might be closer than you think. So hang in there, my mates!

How to achieve 200+ bowling score?

The beginner-friendly score ranges from 100 to 150. Hence, a 200+ game is not really for beginners or mid-ranked bowlers. To get 200 points in a game, you need to roll plenty of strikes and spares. Otherwise, it is not possible to get your score that high. So the first thing you have to learn is rolling some strikes and spares. Moreover, you also need to have consistency in your shots. Once you learn to do that with perfection, see the numbers go up on the scoreboard.

One thing you can do to improve your bowling average is to practice. No, it’s not just some basic practice. Serious and dedicated bowlers should understand and take a few factors into account on how to deal with everything when they bowl. Practicing solely for strikes is not enough. What do you do when you miss a strike? That’s right, you need to pick up the spares. So what if you struggle when it comes to some specific spares? Learn to get them as well.

I know it’s easier said than done. But you have to learn to get those spares and consider them as essential pieces for that 200 bowling average score you’re aiming for. Basically, what I am saying is, improve your game!

Let’s say, you can throw three strikes consecutively. Well, congratulations! But that won’t get you to a 200 if you fail to pick up the spares. Without spares, your game as well as your average will continue to suffer. You wouldn’t want that, would you? Therefore, I would highly recommend you practice constantly so that you can get your scores up to 200 or above.

While you’re working on your strikes and spares, start to learn other strategies like adapting to lane transformation, what ball to use, which layout is right for you, etc. If you get them correct, the rest will fall into place. Just keep on practicing and you will get there in no time.

Conclusion

Do you already have a 200+ bowling average? Well, congratulations! You are halfway to your dream of becoming a bowling professional! Remember, practice is the key to success. So you stick to that. Don’t worry, it shouldn’t be too hard if you already have a 180+ score as an average. With consistent practice, some badass strikes, and spares, nothing can stop you. Your score will increase significantly! Do you have any more queries regarding your current bowling score? Feel free to leave a comment and I will get back to you shortly! As always, best of luck, my bowler kings and queens.
